Kindness Grows Here in the Schools

Amelia Earhart Quote

During the past year Kindness Grows Here (KGH) collaborated with a number of Anne Arundel County Public elementary, middle, and high schools to foster the spread of kindness. Please read below for a sense of what Kindness Grows Here can offer. If you’d like to partner with KGH to spread kindness in a similar way please contact us! We are looking to spread our scope of influence as far and wide as we can! We are happy to partner with any school to spread kindness, no matter how close or far you are from our Anne Arundel County, Maryland home!

Nantucket Elementary School

Kindness Campaign (Spring 2017)

  • Provided handouts to be sent home
  • Went in to do morning announcements introducing the campaign.

Crofton Middle School

- Conducted three anti-bullying assemblies for all 6th graders (Decemeber 2017)

  • Three 8th graders served as student leaders at these presentations. KGH met with these impressive students three times leading up to the presentations to rehearse

- Met with the Principal in March 2018 to plan a “Leadership Seminar” that focuses on the “Power of 1” specifically geared towards reaching those students that have immense potential but are at times difficult to connect with. Seminar date TBD but aiming for fall of 2018.

Arundel High School

- Held a Kindness Convention on April 14, 2018.

  • At this convention students from all local elementary, middle, and high schools were honored for spreading kindness and good citizenship throughout their schools.
  • Superintended Dr. George Arlotto was present to inspire and thank all students and families who attended.
  • Various organizations from Arundel High School and the local elementary schools set up tables that enabled participants to actively engage in random acts of kindness while at the convention. These groups also provided information about other ways to spread kindness in the community.

Odenton Elementary School

- Met with the principal and guidance counselor to create a Kindness Campaign for the months of February – May 2018 focusing on the values of kindness, empathy, celebrating diversity, & integrity/honesty.

  • KGH wrote morning announcements for each week of each month focusing on each value.
  • KGH created a handout (for each value) that was sent home to “Continue the Conversation” about these values at home.

Crofton Meadows Elementary School

- Attended their showing of the movie “Wonder” on February 23, 2018 and provided all materials for a “Random Act of Kindness” activity for all kids who attended.

Southern High School

  • - Have partnered with the Principal to create a “Kindness Grows Here Club” at the school.
  • These students are currently collaborating with KGH, under the direction of our founder, Kristen Caminiti, to design and create a high school appropriate assembly (complete with videos, skits, and written word performances) with the theme of “Be the Change: Be Kind.” This assembly will kick off the 2018-2019 school year at Southern High School and will then be able to be taken “on the road” to other high schools in the State and Country to help spread the same message.

Tracey’s Elementary School

- Conducted two “Who Do You Want to Be Right Now” assemblies to students in all grades K-2 and 3-5 on April 16, 2018.

Crofton Woods Elementary

- Presented to students in 5th grade about the importance of spreading kindness at school and in their community at their “Community Service Day” on April 27, 2018.

As one can see, we’ve been busy! We hope the 2018-2019 school year will allow us to maintain these collaborations as well as build many more!
